PHILADELPHIA (AP) – Philadelphia police said a woman who died after falling from a 12th-floor balcony at a waterfront high-rise may have been looking for a dropped cell phone.
Investigators said the 30-year-old fell at about 4:20 a.m. Friday and landed on a fourth-floor terrace of an upscale condominium near Penn’s Landing.
Philadelphia police aren’t identifying the woman, but say she worked at a city gentleman’s club.
Authorities said she and a male friend called building management at about 4 a.m., hoping they could wake up the 4th floor neighbors to retrieve the cell phone.
They said management at the Dockside complex offered to call later in the morning.
Police said the 12th floor balcony railing where the woman fell is intact. They are calling the death accidental.
