Two people were injured Saturday morning when their motorcycle was struck by a car on Route 40 at Brush Run Road in North Bethlehem Township, state police said.

Police said James F. Holmes Jr., 69, of New Kensington, was trying to cross Route 40 when a car struck his motorcycle shortly before 11 a.m.

Both said he and his passenger, Janet M. Hoak, 61, of New Kensington, were thrown from the bike. Police said both had to be transported to Washington Hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the car, Edith Dziak, 77, of Scenery Hill, was not injured in the crash, police said.

Police plan to cite Holmes for failing to stop at the intersection.
