Greene County Fair queen crowned
WAYNESBURG – Chelsea Wilson, 17, daughter of Amy and Doug Wilson of Waynesburg, was crowned the 2013 Miss Greene County Fair Queen Saturday at the Greene County Fairgrounds.
Wilson, who will be a senior at Jefferson-Morgan Junior-Senior High School, was to compete against Sadie Wright of Mt. Morris, but Wright withdrew from the competition prior to Saturday’s judging.
Nonetheless, the National Honor Society student still went through the process as though she had competition for the crown. She had a personal interview with the judges; answered an impromptu question; gave a brief speech on “What My Fair Means to My Community;” was judged on a written essay based on reasons for wanting to be the fair queen and modeled an evening gown.
Wilson now becomes eligible to compete for the state fair queen title early next year.
