A Texas trucker escaped injury Monday when he lost control of his rig hauling two large coils of steel and it tipped onto its side on Interstate 70 in Buffalo Township, sending his haul rolling into a wooded area.

State police said Abiodun O. Adejumobi, 50, of Houston, was headed west on the highway about 10:30 a.m. when his tractor-trailer traveled off the north side of the highway.

Adejumobi then overcorrected, causing the tractor hauling a flatbed to tumble onto the passenger side and slide for several hundred feet as the coils broke free, police said.

The accident occurred just west of the Taylorstown exit.

Traffic was detoured off the highway and onto Route 40 while the truck was removed.

Both westbound lanes of traffic reopened at 1:30 p.m., police said.
