HARRISBURG (AP) – State officials say raw milk from a central Pennsylvania dairy should be thrown out because it may be contaminated by bacteria.

The departments of Health and Agriculture issued a warning Monday about the produce sold by The Family Cow in Chambersburg.

They say test results performed after a consumer complaint and some illnesses indicate the milk, which isn’t pasteurized, may contain Campylobacter bacteria.

Officials have ordered the farm to stop selling raw milk until further notice.

Company spokesman Rodrick Shank says more recent lab results were clear, and the company is preparing to inform its 2,800 buying club members about the situation.

The milk, labeled as raw milk from The Family Cow, is sold at the farm at through stores around Pittsburgh, Philadelphia and Allentown, and in south-central Pennsylvania.
