Waynesburg University will offer a free online professional development workshop for teachers and librarians from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday. There is no cost and participants earn up to 24 PA Act 48 activity hours. Graduates of TPS Level 1 are welcome to apply.
Calling all dogs. Bring your humans to the Humane Society of Greene County’s Dog Gone Pool Party at Mon View Park in Greensboro, from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday. There will be prizes and awards given to “Best Swimsuit” and “Best in Pool.” Dogs should be up-to-date on vaccinations and on a leash. Admission is by donation. Westmoreland County Community College is conducting registration for fall classes that begin Aug. 22. Classes features day, evening, Saturday and online courses open to new and returning students as well as high school juniors and seniors who meet eligibility requirements. Students earn college credit upon completing course requirements.
There are courses for career preparation and liberal arts and sciences that will transfer to bachelor’s degree programs at many four-year colleges and universities. Greene County Salvation Army’s Produce to People will be held from 10 a.m. to noon at the Greene County Fairgrounds Aug. 22, Sept. 26, Oct. 24, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19. All income-eligible households will be qualified to receive free food. The food comes to Waynesburg from the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. No one will be permitted to pick up for another individual or family unless you are signed up.
The 10th series of Community Builders of Greene County will begin Sept. 9. The eight-session program will meet on alternating Mondays from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. through Dec. 16 at the Greene County Career & Technology Center dining room. Applications, available at (http://cfgcpa.org/commbuilders.html), are being accepted through Aug. 30.
Community Builders provides training for nonprofit board volunteers and employees. Nonprofit leadership program explores leadership, governance and boards of directors, financial management, communication, team work, strategic planning, public relations, grant writing, fundraising and volunteer engagement.
