ZANESVILLE, Ohio (AP) — Hundreds of curiosity-seekers, horse-traders and other people have attended an auction of the estate of a suicidal man who released dozens of exotic animals including lions and tigers in eastern Ohio almost two years ago.
Petting zoo equipment, motorcycles and Harley-Davidson T-shirts were among the thousands of items from Terry Thompson’s estate for sale Wednesday at his farm in Zanesville.
The Zanesville Times Recorder reports the auction caused traffic near the farm as thousands of people paid the $25-per-car admission fee.
Bellaire resident Brad DeWitt says he didn’t mind waiting in line to pay for his winning bid on a motorcycle.
SE Ohio Auctions owner Jeff Koehler ran the action. He says vintage cars were among the auction’s highlights.
Thompson released the animals before killing himself. Authorities hunted and killed lots of the animals.
