MONONGAHELA – A Monongahela woman is in custody on allegations she stole more than $3,000 from her blind roommate by forging her signature on checks and credit card purchases.
Monongahela police Wednesday arrested Karen M. Burton, 45, of 521 Park Ave. in the case on charges of forgery, theft and access device fraud for allegedly stealing from Veronica Marraccini in May, court records show.
Police on May 8 spoke with Marraccini and was told money had been stolen from her checking account and a credit card had been fraudulently opened in her name. The total amount of the theft was $3,182, the affidavit indicates.
Police obtained an arrest warrant in the case after interviewing Burton the same day. She is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond set by District Judge Mark Wilson.
