King Coal Pet Parade winners announced

CARMICHAELS – The 47th annual King Coal Children’s Pet Parade took place Wednesday in the Carmichaels Borough town circle. Dozens of youngsters gathered with their pets from the most unusual to the ordinary. Judges, stationed in the middle of the circle, selected the pets that would receive a prize presented by 2013 Coal Queen Marina Stefano. The categories and those who placed in each are as follows:

Cutest kitten

• First place: Tristan Jacobs, 7, of Carmichaels

Cutest puppy

• First place: Ke’lani Chun, 3, of Crucible

• Second place: Christian Moore, 9, of Carmichaels

• Third place: Hannah Giles, 8, of Carmichaels

Best dressed cat

• First place: Lydia Reynolds, 6, of Crucible

• Second place: Alexandrea Reynolds, 10, of Crucible

Prettiest cat

• First place: Kori Larose, 6, of Masontown

Prettiest dog

• First place: Ann Livengood , 11, of Crucible

• Second place, Tessa Eggleston, 7, of Jefferson

• Third place: Daicydawn Horner, 7, of Carmichaels

Largest dog

• First place: Parker Pratt, 11, of Carmichaels

Best groomed dog

• First place: Taylee Martin, 13, of Carmichaels

• Second place, Haleigh Pratt, 21, of Carmichaels

• Third place, Katie Waggett, 5, of Carmichaels

Best dressed dog

• First place: AJ Waggett, 10, of Carmichaels

• Second place: JT Eggleston, 9, of Jefferson

• Third place: Emily Mundell, 12, of Carmichaels

• First place: Catherine Thompson, 11, of Waynesburg

• Second place: Shane McNamara, 6, of Carmichaels

• Third place: Gavin Husenits, 7, of Carmichaels

• First place: Robbie Wilson, 5, of Carmichaels

• Second place: Alicia Snyder, 17, of Carmichaels

• Third place: Pacey Pratt, 6, of Rices Landing

• First place: Kallyn Novak, 4, of Jefferson

The Coal Show will continue this evening from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. with the Double Down Band, exhibits, food and carnival rides at the Carmichaels Cumberland Township Fire Department facilities. The King Coal Prince and Princess will be crowned at 8 p.m.

The show will wrap up Saturday starting with the annual Charles Workman Car Show at Wana B Park, followed by the car show parade and King Coal Show parade at 3:50 p.m. Events at the fire hall will begin at 5 p.m. with local band Hit-N-Run, playing from 7 to 10 p.m.
