A Washington man has been ordered to stand trial for his alleged role in an assault outside a Canton Township bar in June.

Eric Johnson, 24, was ordered held for court Thursday by District Judge David Mark on charges of aggravated assault, simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct.

Johnson is accused of sucker-punching Akili Sutton outside the Cozy Corner, Euclid Avenue, during a confrontation June 6. His co-defendant, Tevin R. Heyman, was ordered held for court on charges including aggravated assault after a preliminary hearing last week before Mark. Heyman is accused of shooting Sutton and his father, Robert Sutton. State police filed the charges against both men.

Johnson remains in Washington County jail on $50,000 bond, while Heyman is jailed on $250,000 bond.
