WAYNESBURG – Jerome Simkovic, Greene County maintenance manager for the state Department of Transportation, announced the tentative work plan for the week of Sept. 2. Maintenance activities are conducted on a weather-permitting basis. Motorists should drive with caution throughout all work areas and be alert for signed work zones requiring the usage of headlights.
A bridge closing and concrete pipe replacement project will be conducted on Route 221, Lippencott Road, in Morgan Township in both directions through Friday, Nov. 1. A detour is in place.
Bridge rehabilitation work will continue on Route 1021, Crucible Road, in Cumberland Township.
Bridge flushing operations will be conducted on Route 3001, Aleppo Road, in Aleppo Township.
A bridge closure on Route 18, Browns Creek Road, in Franklin Township near the water dam is restricting traffic to one lane and is controlled by a traffic light. Traffic must stop when the traffic signal is red to permit traffic with green light to proceed. This site is permitted for ten foot wide clearance maximums.
A bridge replacement project is being conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road, in Freeport Township, near the community of New Freeport.
Traffic is restricted to one lane and controlled by traffic signal. This site is permitted for eleven foot wide clearance maximums.
Pipe replacement activities will take place on Route 3001, Windy Gap Road, in Springhill and Aleppo townships; Route 3007, Jacobs Run Road, in the Richhill-Center township area and also on Route 4008, Nebo Ridge Road, in Richhill Township.
Base repair will be conducted on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road, in Morris Township, to Browns Creek Road.
Bridge cleaning is planned on Route 18, Golden Oaks Road, in Center and Jackson townships.
Shoulder stabilization work will take place on Route 1025, Stringtown Road, in Cumberland Township.
The Greene County State Correctional Institution’s Community Work Program will conduct litter pick-up operations on Route 3013, Oak Forest Road, in Franklin Township to Brave in Wayne Township. Please drive carefully when encountering this moving operation.
Inlet cleaning, shoulder grading, and cutting operations will be conducted on Interstate 79 throughout the Greene County corridor from Waynesburg in Franklin Township to Ruff Creek in Washington Township.
Signs will be updated, downed signs will be replaced, and complaints will be addressed on various state routes throughout Greene County.
