A Jefferson Township man reportedly admitted to state police that he shot and killed his older brother Saturday night after a day of arguing with him and their father at the family home.

Robert Jay Bauduin, 46, of 863 Bethel Ridge Road, Avella, is accused of shooting Richard Bauduin Jr., 47, of Colliers, W.Va., in the head. The younger Bauduin was taken into custody moments after state police arrived at the home he shared with his father, Richard Bauduin Sr.

The 911 dispatch center received a call from the elder Bauduin just before 7 p.m. about an argument between his sons. He advised that one had shot the other. Police said Robert Bauduin then called 911 and told a dispatcher he shot his brother and that his brother was dead.

Shortly thereafter, Robert Bauduin reportedly called 911 again, and the call was transferred to the state police barracks, where it was answered by a police communications officer. The caller, who told the state police dispatcher that his name was Robert, reportedly told her that he shot his brother and had “screwed up.”

He was still on the line with the dispatcher when state police arrived at the home. When she told Robert Bauduin that police were outside and to come out with his hands on top of his head, he complied.

The body of Richard Bauduin Jr. was found in a hall outside a bedroom. A shotgun was found in the bedroom.

Robert Bauduin told police that he had been arguing with his brother and father all day. He went into his bedroom, where he had a loaded 16-gauge, double-barrel shotgun. He reportedly told police he grabbed the shotgun, pointed the weapon at his brother and shot him.

Bauduin was arraigned before District Judge Valarie Costanzo on a charge of homicide and was placed in Washington County jail without bond. A hearing is scheduled for Wednesday in Central Court.
