Members from the Town and Country Garden Club of Rices Landing were invited to the 2013 Pennsylvania Horticulture Society’s Community Greening Regional Awards Presentation, hosted by the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy on Nov. 7.

The Carmichaels Town Square Project, completed this past summer by the club, was nominated for an award. Ninety Community Greening Projects were nominated throughout the state with 60 projects chosen for the awards. A metal sign with the Pennsylvania Horticulture Society logo, along with a certificate, were presented to the club members. The sign reads that the project is an award winner and will be displayed at each project.

The reception included other Community Greening Projects that also won awards. There was a presentation that included pictures and a description of each of the Community Greening Projects awarded from western Pennsylvania.
