Waynesburg man sentenced to intermediate punishment program

WAYNESBURG – A Waynesburg man who earlier pleaded guilty to his second offense of driving under the influence of alcohol was sentenced Friday by Judge Farley Toothman to the county’s intermediate punishment program.

John Robert Joseph Fahey, 29, of 2214 Garards Fort Road, was arrested Feb. 2 after being stopped by Waynesburg police for a traffic violation. He had a blood-alcohol content of 0.197 percent.

Fahey was sentenced to 5 years in the program.

He must serve 30 days in jail followed by 60 days on house arrest. He was granted work release or weekend privileges provided he can submit documents regarding his employment.

Fahey also was ordered to pay $1,525 in fines and to perform 250 hours of community service. He is prohibited from the use, purchase or transportation of alcohol. Fahey had pleaded guilty to DUI and a summary traffic violation Aug. 14.

In another case before the court, Christopher Michael Nopwaskey, 32, of 236 Third St., Crucible, pleaded guilty Friday before Judge William Nalitz to his second offense DUI and two summary traffic violations.

Nopwaskey was arrested by Cumberland Township police after being stopped for a traffic violation May 6. He had a BAC of 0.240 percent. Nopwaskey will be sentenced following the preparation of a pre-sentence report.
