A McDonald man faces charges including aggravated assault, resisting arrest, harassment and terroristic threats after reportedly struggling with borough police officers Friday night as they were taking him into custody on an adult probation bench warrant.
Dillion James O’Rourke, 23, of 422 Fannie St., was taken into custody at the home of his mother, which is located in the Allegheny County portion of the borough..
McDonald police went to the home about 10:15 p.m. Officer Jordan Faust went to the front door and saw O’Rourke’s mother, Susan O’Rourke, inside the house, while Officer Michael Dhanse went to the back door. O’Rourke’s mother told Fause to come into the house. O’Rourke was lying on a couch in the living room.
When Fause told the O’Rourkes why they were there, Dillion O’Rourke reportedly clenched his fists and said he was going to his bedroom. When police grabbed his arm to take him into custody, O’Rourke allegedly jerked his arms away and resisted the officers.
Police said they were able to get a handcuff on O’Rourke’s right arm, but that he would not put the left arm behind his back. He reportedly swore at the officers as they tried to take him into custody.
O’Rourke was taken to the floor but continued trying to pull his arms away from Dhanse and Faust, police said. Despite several warnings that a Taser would be used, the 23-year-old continued to struggle and was stunned by Faust, according to police.
Police said O’Rourke continued to struggle, kicking the glass storm door on the way out of the home. They said he complained that he had done nothing wrong and that he would just start shooting. He also allegedly threatened to shoot another McDonald police officer who was not present during the arrest.
Faust reported suffering injuries to her back and left knee while trying to take O’Rourke into custody.
O’Rourke remains in Washington County jail on the bench warrant. He will be arraigned on the other charges later.
