Tickets for tree extravaganza on sale
CARMICHAELS – The 11th annual Christmas Tree Extravaganza is under way in Carmichaels with 24 themed trees on display in the social hall of the First United Methodist Church, 104 W. South St. Raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the trees can be purchased at the ACTS (arts, crafts, talents, services) thrift shop, located next to the church, from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. now through Friday. There is no charge for admission to view the trees.
Each year lighted artificial Christmas trees are decorated and donated by area organizations, merchants, churches and individuals for the event. Some of the themes for 2013 include; The Wizard of Oz, Candy Land, Flower Power, a western theme and a lottery tree with instant-winner scratch-off tickets.
Raffle tickets for a chance to win one of the trees can be purchased at the cost of three for $1, seven for $2 and 20 for $5. Purchasers of the tickets fill in contact information and place them into the coffee can in front of the tree or trees they hope to win.
The winning tickets will be drawn from the cans at 6 p.m. Friday and winners will be notified.
Proceeds from the extravaganza go to support the efforts of the Cumberland Township Food Pantry. The extravaganza is sponsored by ACTS, a ministerial association in Greene County. The five most popular trees, by a count of the raffle tickets, will be photographed and announced following the drawing.
