Local Women’s club picks girl of month

CARMICHAELS – Samantha Smith, a senior at Carmichaels Area High School, has been named Girl of the Month for December by Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club.
Smith, 17, daughter of Warren and Diane Smith, Carmichaels, is a member of the National Honor Society, National Society of High School Scholars, SADD, and the yearbook and newspaper staffs.
Outside of school, she studies dance at the Houck Dance Studio, Uniontown, taking lessons in tap, jazz, lyrical, ballet and hip-hop. She has been a competitive dance for the last nine years. She also is a member of the Greene Valley Church of God where she participates on the drama team and in the sign language choir.
Smith plans to attend West Virginia University and major in nursing.
Her career goal is to become a registered flight nurse.
