Winter holidays will be drawing to a close next month, thus beginning the post-Christmas clean-up, but there’s another option aside from trashing the tree.

The Washington County Department of Parks and Recreation will accept live Christmas trees from Jan. 2 to Jan. 25 at Mingo and Cross Creek parks. The trees will be recycled and used to improve the fish habitat at Cross Creek Park.

Trees can be dropped off between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. at the boat trailer parking lot at Cross Creek and the Shelter 1 parking lot at Mingo. The drop-off locations will be clearly marked.

Contact the Washington County Planning Commission with questions at 724-228-6811.
