UNIONTOWN (AP) – Pennsylvania State Police said two people broke into the home of an 89-year-old woman and robbed her at gunpoint, cutting the phone lines so she couldn’t summon help.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Saturday the suspects took the woman’s purse and medical alert necklace.

The paper saud the Fayette County woman, who uses a wheelchair, awoke shortly before midnight Thursday to demands that she produce money and jewelry.

Police said the suspects entered through a window and then spent some time rifling through her belongings.

After they were gone she couldn’t call to summon help, so police weren’t notified until a home health care worker arrived.
