PITTSBURGH (AP) – Almost 10,000 people in Western Pennsylvania, including some in Washington County, are without power after high winds knocked down trees and power lines.
West Penn Power reports that more than 9,300 customers were without power at 10 a.m. Sunday. Spokesman Tom Kearney attributed the problems to downed lines caused by rain-sodden ground and 50 to 60 mph winds that moved through the area Saturday night. In addition to Washington County, the hardest-hit areas were Allegheny, Crawford and Venango counties.
Kearney said crews are working to restore electricity.
