North Strabane Township will be using a new trash and recycling collector in the new year, beginning Jan. 7.

Republic Services/Allied Waste will collect residents’ trash every Tuesday and collect recycling every other Tuesday. Waste Management’s last collection day will be Thursday.

Containers will be available at the township’s public works department, located at 1929 Route 519, Canonsburg, for residents who are unable to hold their garbage until Jan. 7. Properly bagged trash will be accepted. Residents are asked not to bring large items such as furniture and appliances to the containers.

Republic Services will mail an information packet to residents to provide collection guidelines, a schedule of pick-ups for 2014 and items that will be accepted for recycling. For questions, contact Republic Services at 1-800-464-2120 or 412-429-2600.
