Theft report: A Premier trailer worth $1,778 was stolen between Dec. 17 and 19 from Murphy Family Inc., 585 E. National Pike, state police reported Tuesday.
Attempted burglary: Sheryl Ruffing reported to Southwest Regional police that someone attempted to enter her residence on Piersol Avenue overnight Saturday.
Arrested in assault: Carlos Franell, 38, of 310 Grace Ave., Canonsburg, is charged by borough police with simple assault and harassment, court records show. He is accused of pushing and striking his live-in girlfriend, Kelly Gregorczyk, and throwing a cellphone at her nephew about 1 p.m. Monday in their residence, the affidavit states. Franell is free on $1,000 bond set by District Judge David Mark.
Jailed on warrants: Michael A. Franks, 32, of 1001 Castner Ave., Donora, is charged by township police in separate cases with driving under the influence of oxycodone, theft and deceptive business practices, court records show. Franks is accused of DUI in connection with a June 15, 2012, traffic stop in the 100 block of Stoops Drive. He also is accused of taking $240 from Marcy C. Hriber to perform yard work at her 124 Donora Road residence about 3 p.m. Oct. 3 and failing to do the job, the records indicate. Franks is in Washington County Jail on $10,000 bond after being arrested on warrants Monday and arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson.
Items stolen: Kyle Murphy of 544 Georgetown Road, Lawrence, reported that his unlocked apartment was entered within the past two months and several items were stolen, township police said. The theft was reported at 3:18 p.m. Monday. Stolen were numerous bowling balls, a pair of bowling shoes and an Xbox 360 with a controller, police said. Murphy said he was staying with his girlfriend and does not know when the theft occurred.
Man jailed: Brandynn Brown-Dupree, 28, of 802 Whiteside Drive, Pittsburgh, is charged by borough police with flight to avoid apprehension, escape, possession of drugs with intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct, court records show. Police said he fled from a van they stopped about 9:17 a.m. July 25 along Gallatin Road only to be captured a short time later in woods. He allegedly had crack in the pocket of his shorts and other drug-related items in a box found in the van. Police then turned him over to a constable to face felony gun charges state police had filed against him in 2000, the affidavit indicates. He is in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond in the Donora case after being arrested on a warrant and arraigned before District Judge David Mark.
Jailed in disturbance: Rocklin L. Powell, 63, of 110 S. McDonald St., McDonald, is charged by borough police with simple assault, making terroristic threats, harassment, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness, court records show. Police accuse Powell of spitting on his neighbor, John Erkel, about 6:45 p.m. Monday and later threatening to shoot him, the affidavit shows. He is in Washington County jail on $2,500 bond set by District Judge David Mark.
Hit and run: Thomas Gatz Jr., of Bethel Park, reported to Southwest Regional police that the rear left corner of his vehicle was struck while it was parked on Hidden Valley Drive overnight Sunday.
