LANCASTER (AP) – A county coroner in central Pennsylvania says an infant is dead after a Christmas Eve shooting.

Lancaster County coroner Dr. Stephen Diamontoni said a 2-month-old baby was shot Tuesday afternoon. He declined to provide additional details because police are still investigating the shooting, but said an autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning.

Police were called to the Countryside Apartment Complex on Old Philadelphia Pike around 2 p.m.

The infant had been resuscitated on its way to Lancaster General Hospital but was later declared dead.

East Lampeter Township Police didn’t return a message left through the county dispatch office.
