WAYNESBURG – A team of 19 Waynesburg University students, led by Dave Calvario, dean of students and the director of the Center for Service Leadership, will serve with the Pittsburgh Project Feb 16.

Partnering with the Pittsburgh Project, students will provide free home repairs for those who may not be able to complete the tasks without assistance. In many cases, the improvements save the owner from possible citation or eviction. Projects include hanging drywall, constructing wheelchair ramps and replacing doors, floors and windows.

“The Pittsburgh Project cares for vulnerable homeowners and lifts up the next generation of servant leaders,” Calvario said.

“The Project mostly serves elderly or disabled individuals who, for a variety of reasons, are not able to care for their homes.”

Students participating in the Pittsburgh Project include Natalie Abraham, a sophomore from Munhall; Rachel Binning, a sophomore from Pittsburgh; Roscoe Bright, a senior from Elizabeth; Aaron Cromwell, a senior from Fairchance; Bryan Gary, a junior from Pittsburgh; Rebecca Good, a freshman from Bridgeville; Korey Hammell, a sophomore from Homestead; Phil Henry, a senior from Bridgeville; Michelle Hopkins, a freshman from Warren, Ohio.

Also, Kylee Horvath, a junior from Edinburg; Jeff Johns, a senior from Upper Burrell; Emily Mullady, a sophomore from Harrisburg; Corey Rearick, a senior from New Castle; Adam Roberge, a junior from Elizabethtown; Jose Rodriquez, a freshman from Lancaster; Aaron Schuster, a sophomore from Martins Ferry, Ohio; Cherylynn Shird, a junior from Washington, D.C.; Steven Terrill, a senior from Claysville; and Jay Weimer, a sophomore from Waynesburg.
