CECIL – The first restaurant known to be locating in the 34-acre Town Center portion of Southpointe II in Cecil Township will now be allowed to serve alcohol.

Cecil Township supervisors Monday night approved the transfer of a liquor license from a former Canton Township establishment to the proposed Sagalin restaurant.

In a letter to the township, attorney Lou Caputo said the restaurant plans to serve Asian-oriented cuisine.

Town Center is planned to be a mix of offices, retail and housing. The anchor will be two 60,000-square-foot, two-story buildings built across from each other on Main Street. Each will have 32,000 square feet of retail space on the ground floor and an equivalent amount above for offices.

A 380-unit apartment building will be erected north of the Town Center, featuring upscale one- and two-bedroom units.

There will also be a small park that will include the copper cupola from the administration building of Western Center, which once stood nearby.

Ground at the new development site has already been cleared and construction is expected to begin this spring.
