Former W. Pa. clerk charged in police office theft

PITTSBURGH (AP) – A former cashier for the Pittsburgh police records office has been charged with stealing more than $15,000.
Police say in a release Tuesday that 48-year-old Terri Randolph of Pittsburgh faces charges of theft by unlawful taking and failure to make required disposition of funds. She had worked for the city since 1991, but resigned last month.
Authorities say Randolph told her supervisor about the alleged thefts last November.
Randolph worked in the office where the public pays $15 each for copies of police reports. An audit found $17,000 missing and $60,000 in checks that hadn’t been deposited.
The office has since bought a new cash register which tracks transactions and no longer accepts cash.
Randolph was released on $10,000 bond. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Feb. 14.
