MOUNT PLEASANT (AP) — Police say a Southwestern Pennsylvania man who threatened to blow up his house by disconnecting a natural gas line has surrendered and will face a mental evaluation and possible criminal charges.
Mount Pleasant police haven’t identified the suspect who held police at bay after his sister called 911 about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday to report his threat.
Police say the man has apparently had personal and financial problems recently.
Police say the man surrendered peacefully about 3 a.m. Wednesday after local police and assisting state troopers threw sort of device through the man’s window.
Police had evacuated neighbors in a one-block radius because of the threatened natural gas explosion. Nobody was hurt and those people have been allowed to return home.
