A Fayette County man, already facing robbery charges, got himself in more trouble Friday when he allegedly kicked a Charleroi Regional police officer and then tried to kick a police dog.
Richard Lee White, 34, of 261 Second St., Allison, was arrested Friday afternoon after he allegedly stole a dollar bill from a man who was sitting in his vehicle at Sixth and Fallowfield avenues.
Matthew Kennedy told police he was in his vehicle when a white man wearing a gray T-shirt over a long-sleeved black shirt came up to his vehicle. He said the man, later identified as White, told him to give him money or he would pull Kennedy out of the vehicle and assault him.
Kennedy told police he pulled a dollar bill out of his pocket and gave it to White, who grabbed it and ran toward the Myford Hotel.
Officer Michael Leasure walked into the motel and saw White, who matched the description given by Kennedy. White was placed in the patrol car and was identified by Kennedy.
While being transported to the police station, the Fayette County man reportedly threatened to assault Leasure, then kicked at Leasure when the officer was getting him out of the cruiser. While walking into the station, White allegedly tried to head-butt Leasure, who took him to the ground.
Once inside the station, White was put on a bench and secured with a shackle on his left leg. Officer William Gardner returned to the station with his K-9, Rex, and White started yelling and kicked at the dog, police said.
White was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on two counts of aggravated assault and robbery and three counts of simple assault. He was placed in the Washington County jail on $50,000 bond. A preliminary hearing will be held Feb. 19 before District Judge Larry Hopkins.
