Ohio teen suspect in school shootings facing tests

CHARDON, Ohio (AP) – Attorneys for both sides want psychiatric testing for an 18-year-old charged with shooting three students to death at a northeast Ohio high school.
The request is intended to determine if T.J. Lane is competent to stand trial. It was filed Friday in Chardon by his attorneys with the backing of prosecutors.
Before the case went to adult court last year, a juvenile court judge ruled that Lane was mentally competent despite evidence that he suffers from hallucinations, psychosis and fantasies.
No trial date has been set.
Prosecutors say Lane fired 10 shots at a group of students in the Chardon High School cafeteria last February. He was at the school waiting for a bus to his alternative school.
