State Rep. Brandon Neuman, D-North Strabane Township, is downplaying Internet reports that he will be candidate in the race for state lieutenant governor next year.

“I don’t know what my future plans are. I’m just now working on and concentrating on the budget for this year,” he said Wednesday.

The website PoliticsPA indicated Wednesday that Neuman, 31, had “confirmed” that he would run for lieutenant governor at the state Democratic Committee meeting in Harrisburg last weekend, where Neuman handed out personalized chocolates from Sarris Candies.

The chocolates did not refer to him being a possible candidate for the post, but instead wished people “Happy Valentine’s Day.”

Neuman is in his second term in the Legislature serving the 48th District.
