PITTSBURGH (AP) — The FBI has seized more Pittsburgh police-related records, this time from the Greater Pittsburgh Police Federal Credit Union.
Federal authorities aren’t saying what they’re investigating, but Thursday’s seizure comes after FBI agents on Tuesday took records from police headquarters.
City solicitor Dan Regan says the mayor plans to hire a legal expert to review laws and the city’s policies on outside employment.
Regan says there’s hearsay that officers have been selling police-related memorabilia. Deputy Chief Paul Donaldson said earlier this week that the records seized Tuesday pertained to how the city manages fees it collects when businesses — like bars — hire off-duty officers to provide security.
Some city council members want Chief Nate Harper to take leave during the probe, but Mayor Luke Ravenstahl says the chief, who has denied wrongdoing, has his confidence.
