A Carnegie man faces several charges, including theft by failure to make required disposition of funds and tampering with public records, stemming from the sale of trailers at a Chartiers Township business.

State police filed the charges against Craig Michael Tumas, 33, Thursday at the office of District Judge David Mark.

A man who purchased a 2012 Car Mate trailer from Storage in Motion, 153 S. Johnson Road, contacted the state police vehicle fraud unit at the Washington barracks. He showed police forms showing different dates of purchase because his temporary registration had expired.

Police determined that Tumas had never sent in the registration for the trailer.

Police also determined from the state Department of Transportation that in 34 separate sales, paperwork, fees and taxes owed were received after the 20 days allowed for the information and fees to be submitted.

Police obtained a search warrant and determined there were three other sales of trailers that had not been submitted to PennDOT.

Charges will be sent by summons from Mark’s office.
