Carmichaels seniors named Jan. students of the month
CARMICHAELS – Two Carmichaels Area High School seniors, Lakelyn Sheldon and Hillary Pratt, have been named the January and February Girl of the Month, respectively, by the Carmichaels Area Women’s Civic Club.
Sheldon, a daughter of Erik and Shay Sheldon of Crucible, plans to attend California University to study early childhood development and special education with a minor in accounting.
She is a member of National Honor Society, SADD, yearbook and newspaper staffs, mock trial team, and senior standing committee. She is the 2012 Miss Merry Christmas.
Outside of school, she coaches elementary basketball, announces for varsity volleyball and basketball games, is a lifeguard for the Greene County Department of Recreation, a member of the youth group at First United Methodist Church in Carmichaels and volunteers for the children’s ministry there.
Sheldon has studied dance, voice and acting. She is a student of the Ginny McClelland Dance Studio.
Pratt, a daughter of Kevin and Kim Pratt of Carmichaels, plans to attend Washington & Jefferson College to major in biology.
She then plans to attend medical school to become an orthopedic surgeon.
She is a member of National Honor Society, SADD, ski club, book club and senior standing committee, serving as president.
Pratt is the field commander for the high school marching band, editor of the yearbook and vice president of the NHS.
Outside of school, she studies all forms of dance at the In Motion Dance and Fitness studio in Waynesburg.
