Pennsylvania American Water announced that work to repair a portion of aging water main along Boyce Road, Upper St. Clair, Allegheny County, will occur next week, weather permitting. Boyce Road will be closed for several days from Lawn Shadow Drive to Summit Ridge Drive.

The approximately $70,000 project will support maintenance on a section of the water main that was originally installed in the early 1950s.

“This project will address a recent history of breaks and service interruptions caused by this aging main,” said Pennsylvania American Water Field Operations Superintendent Greg Hlasnick. “The investment will improve reliability and flows for firefighting.”

The water company and its contractor, Casper Colosimo & Sons, Inc, will replace the existing 36-inch pipe. Boyce Road will be closed, beginning at 7 a.m. Feb. 27 through March 1.

Southbound motorists are advised to take Washington Pike/Morganza Road, east on McMurray Road, and north on Route 19 back to Boyce Road. Northbound motorists are advised to use the same detour in reverse.
