Former friend of E. Washington chief sentenced

An East Washington man who was a friend of former East Washington police Chief Donald Solomon was sentenced today to five years in prison on firearms charges.
Timothy Johnson, 41, of 891 Addison St., pleaded guity in October to possesion and transfer of silencers and a machine gun and transfer of a firearm to a felon.
Solomon pleaded guilty in January to extortion charges and is awaiting sentencing in May. He was sentenced today in federal court to five years in prison, followed by two years of supervised release and ordered to forfeit several weapons.
Most of the transfers and conversations leading up to the transfers involving Johnson were captured on FBI audio and video recordings. Johnson also admitted to shooting at the house of Solomon’s ex-girlfriend and the car of her boyfriend.
Solomon was indicted in October 2011 by a federal grand jury for allegedly accepting money from an FBI agent posing as a drug dealer and selling the agent law enforcement-restricted Tasers.
