McMURRAY – The search for a new superintendent in the Peters Township School Distict is progressing with the school board expected to begin the first round of interviews within the month.
During a board meeting Monday, board member David Hvizdos, chairman of the personnel committee, said a closed meeting was held Feb. 14 with the search firm hired by the board. Advertisements for a new superintendent have been placed in numerous publications.
The district has been without a superintendent since Nina Zetty resigned in October, effective Dec.1, to take a similar position at the Gateway School District. Joseph Dimperio is acting superintendent on a per diem basis of $500 a day without benefits.
Hvizdos said the board hopes to have a new superintendent in place before the start of the 2013-14 school year.
Focus groups and meetings with the public will be held before a final decision is made. Dates for the meetings will be advertised at various locations including the district’s website.
