Numerous people recently appeared in Washington County Court on criminal charges.
Appearing before Judge John DiSalle were:
Moses Harris, 23, of Ellsworth; first offense of driving under the influence, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, false reports, damage to unattended property, driving with a suspended license; charged after striking a utility pole Jan. 26, 2011, along Main Street in Bentleyville while his blood-alcohol content was 0.226 percent; sentence – 12 months of probation with the first 72 hours in jail, $1,200 fine, 12-month license suspension.
Laura L. Biles, 22, of 53 Ramage Ave., Elrama; possession of drug paraphernalia; charged Nov. 8 after police were called to her residence when hypodermic needles, stamp bags and other paraphernalia were discovered; placed in the Probation Without Verdict program for 12 months.
Lourena L. McWhorter, 29, of 208 N. Fifth St., Martins Ferry, Ohio; conspiracy to commit retail theft, possession of paraphernalia; charged for attempting to steal merchandise May 12 from the Trinity Point Walmart in South Strabane Township; sentence – 18 months of probation.
Joseph T. Helinski, 35, of 1133 Marelda Ave., Donora; first offense of DUI; charged following a traffic stop June 17 on Park Road in Carroll Township for having a BAC of 0.206 percent; sentence - 6 months in jail, $1,000 fine, 12-month license suspension.
Shane M. Lusher, 27, of 632 Lone Pine Road, Washington; third offense of DUI, driving on a suspended license; charged following a traffic stop April 1 on Maiden Street in Washington for having a BAC of 0.208 percent; sentence – Intermediate Punishment Program for 23 months with the first 12 months on electronic home monitoring and first 90 days on SCRAM-X, $3,500 fine, 18-month license suspension, 100 hours of community service.
Adam S. Gray, 26, of 469 Windy Hill Lane, Maysel, W.Va.; second offense of DUI; charged following a one-vehicle accident in the 500 block of East Maiden Street, Washington, having a BAC of 0.192 percent; sentence – 6 to 18 months on electronic home monitoring, 18-month license suspension, $1,500 fine.
James M. Matthews, 52, of 5241 Midland Drive, Charlestown, W.Va.; second offense of DUI; charged following a two-vehicle collision April 29 at the intersection of East Beau and North Main streets in Washington for having a BAC of 0.11 percent; sentence – 30 days to 6 months in jail, $7,500 fine, 12-month license suspension.
Jaqueline A. Frameli, 55, of 448 Fifth St., Donora; second offense of DUI; charged after refusing a breath test April 14 when police were called to an incident in the 400 block of Fifth Street in Donora; sentence – 6 to 23 months on electronic home monitoring with the first 3 months in SCRAM-X.
Appearing before Judge Edward Borkowski was:
Bruce A. Traylor, 40, of 109 West Lincoln Ave., Apt. 13, McDonald; simple assault, resisting arrest; charged Jan. 1 for resisting arrest after police were dispatched to the report of a fight in the 100 block of West Lincoln Avenue in McDonald; sentence – 12 months of probation.
Several people were recently admitted into the Accelerated Rehabilitative Disposition program for first-time offenders. If they successfully complete the program, they can petition the court to expunge their records.
Appearing before Judge Katherine Emery were:
Seth R. Lere, 21, of 15 Jefferson St., Fredericktown, was admitted for 24 months for corruption of minors. He was charged after police found a juvenile girl they were searching for in his vehicle March 20 near Spring Valley Road in West Bethlehem Township.
Jared L. Findling, 22, of 234 Strope Road, Burgettstown, was admitted for 12 months and received a 30-day license suspension for DUI and accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property. He was charged following a two-vehicle crash June 3 near the exit of the First Niagara Pavilion in Hanover Township for having a BAC of .156 percent.
Thomas Dupuis, 47, of 1478 Jefferson Ave., Washington, was admitted for 6 months and ordered to complete anger management for simple assault. He was charged Sept. 6 for hitting his girlfriend in the head with a cell phone several times in the 1300 block of Jefferson Avenue in Washington.
April L. O’Rourke, 31, of Venetia, was admitted for 2 years and ordered to pay $3,000 in restitution for theft. She was charged for withdrawing money on an improperly endorsed check Oct. 2, 2009, at a McMurray bank.
