More than 75 students from Jefferson-Morgan, Burgettstown, Ringgold and Bethlehem-Center high schools participated in the Teen Safe Driving Summit 2013 in South Strabane Township Feb. 15.

The event was sponsored by AAA East Central and Highway Safety.

One aspect of the event was a workshop called One Simple Decision. One student tried to walk a straight line while wearing “fatal vision” goggles that simulated being under the influence.

Another student drove a simulator that tested his ability to stay on the road while distracted by animals on the road and by texting.

Dylan Davis of Jefferson-Morgan drove a remote car under normal conditions and then put on the goggles that simulated driving under the influence.

And another student smelled different car fluids during the Care Care & Maintenance workshop. It was like a mini auto repair class for teens.
