• Action: The board authorized the planning commission to seek bids for the Cross Creek dam sluice gate replacement. The flood-control project is to be paid for by oil and gas revenue derived from Cross Creek County Park.
The commissioners renewed their agreement with the Washington law firm Marriner, Jones and Fitch for issuing title policies under the Farmland Preservation Program. Rates are $175 per hour for work performed by Stephen Marriner, $150 per hour for work performed by Cary Jones and Colin Fitch and $50 per hour for work done by a paralegal.
Maher Duessel will audit county books for an additional three years from 2013 to 2015. The task will cost $113,500 the first year, $116,000 the second year and $118,500 the third year.
The board renewed an agreement with Echo International to interpret English language in court to defendants’ native tongues. Current yearly costs are between $2,000 and $4,000 a year, plus 56.5 cents per mile for travel.
At the request of Sheriff Samuel Romano, the commissioners approved the purchase of a 2013 Ford Interceptor for $29,462 and a new Interceptor utility model for $33,519, both from Day Ford, Monroeville, under a state contract that does not require bidding. The sheriff is replacing the two oldest vehicles in his fleet.
