A Robinson Township man was injured Sunday afternoon when the skid loader he was operating rolled over a hillside on his property at 9248 Steubenville Pike.

The skid loader operated by Lewis Forrester, 59, in a wooded area flipped over several times, said McDonald police Officer Roman Williams. Forrester was able to get out of the machine and make it back to the top of the hill, where he was met by his son, who called 911 just before 3 p.m.

Williams said the pair were still a good distance away from access to the ambulance. Eight volunteer firefighters from Midway and McDonald borough carried Forrester to the ambulance. He was then transported to a landing zone near Maple Grove bridge and flown to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment.

Williams said Forrester was talking with some of his rescuers before he was placed in the ambulance.
