Work to rehabilitate a bridge on Prestley Road in Collier Township, Allegheny County, will begin Saturday, weather permitting.
The bridge, which carries Prestley Road over Chartiers Creek, is near the intersection with Thoms Run Road. Work includes replacing the bridge deck and bearings, structural painting and roadway improvements. To allow access to local business and churches, Prestley Road will remain open with traffic reduced to a single-lane, alternating use, controlled by temporary signals between Thoms Run Road and the entrance to Journey Assembly of God Church/Cavanaugh Landscaping. However, Prestley Road will be closed to through traffic between Route 50 and the church entrance.
Restrictions will begin at 7 a.m. March 9 and will continue through mid-October. Through traffic will be detoured, and signs will be posted.
The project is included in a $1.6 million contract with Independent Enterprises Inc. of Oakdale.
