Center for Coalfield Justice to hold community meetings

Residents affected by Marcellus gas drilling or longwall mining are invited to attend community meetings being held by the Center for Coalfield Justice. Those attending can meet staff, residents, local experts and attorneys. On display will be CCJ’s atlases of Greene and Washington counties showing Marcellus Shale development in proximity to drinking water wells and a survey of coal mining complexes beneath these municipalities. The meetings will be held:
• Tuesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the Mt. Pleasant Township Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall, 106 Main St. (Rt. 50), Hickory.
• Jan. 10, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Amwell Volunter Fire Department Social Hall, 638 Amity Ridge Road (Rt. 19), Amity.
•Jan. 15, 6 to 8 p.m., Carmichaels American Legion, 205 E. George St., Carmichaels.
• Jan. 17, 6 to 8 p.m., Morris Twp. (Greene County) Community Center, 1713 Browns Creek Road (Rt. 18), Nineveh.
