Jobless rate falls in Washington, Greene

The unemployment rate in Washington and Greene counties declined in November, according to statistics released Thursday by the state Department of Labor & Industry.

Washington’s seasonally adjusted rate fell to 7.2 percent, two-tenths of a percentage point below the October, September and August figures. Washington had 6.9 percent unemployment in November 2011.

Greene County unemployment fell for a third consecutive month to 6.7 percent, down from 6.8 in October, 7.0 in September and 7.3 in August. Greene’s November 2011 rate was 6.6 percent.
