South Strabane Township will be getting some new wheels thanks to a purchase the board of supervisors approved at their meeting Tuesday.

The board unanimously passed two motions to purchase new equipment for the police and road maintenance departments. A new police cruiser with a price tag of $28,678 and a sweeper vehicle at a cost of $169,923 may soon be seen on the streets of South Strabane. Both vehicles were purchased from general fund monies and were items in this year’s budget.

The board also approved the annual tax increment financing payment of $90,000 to the South Strabane Fire Department, which hopes to purchase a new ladder truck this year.

Tuesday’s meeting came on the heels of Monday’s reorganization meeting. Thomas Moore is the board’s new chairman and Dan Piatt the vice chairman.
