EBENSBURG, Pa. (AP) – Jurors in western Pennsylvania have convicted one Philadelphia man of murder and his cousin of manslaughter in a shooting death outside a housing project.

The (Johnstown) Tribune-Democrat says the Cambria County panel deliberated for three hours on Monday before finding 31-year-old Marquis Neal guilty of third-degree murder and 29-year-old Anthony Harvey guilty of voluntary manslaughter.

Jurors heard closing arguments earlier Monday in the October 2011 slaying of 21-year-old J-Quan Lewis outside the Oakhurst Homes in Johnstown. Authorities said Lewis had been involved in a fight with Harvey the night before.

The victim’s mother, Evelyn Lewis of Queens, N.Y., praised prosecutors for their work on the case but told the paper that she felt that a third-degree murder conviction was “not good enough.”
