Cleveland murder plot trial delayed for nurse

CLEVELAND (AP) – Next month’s trial has been delayed for a nurse charged with trying to hire a Cleveland Clinic emergency room patient to kill a woman.
Cleveland federal Judge Christopher Boyko says the case against 23-year-old Andrew Martin of Bristolville near Warren is complex and serious and will require more preparation.
No new trial date has been set.
Martin has pleaded not guilty. He’s no longer employed by the clinic.
Authorities say he offered $10,000 to an ER patient to kill a woman in a dispute over ownership of her deceased brother’s house in Lakewood. The intended victim wasn’t harmed.
The sister says Martin and another man not charged in the alleged plot took advantage of her brother. He died in 2010 and was suffering from dementia.
