A Mt. Pleasant Township woman was arrested Saturday night for allegedly assaulting her 10-year-old daughter because the girl had gone to an upstairs bedroom to play video games.

Lauren Elizabeth Popp, 41, of 119 Dairy Road, who Mt. Pleasant police said was intoxicated, reportedly became irate because the girl went to play the games. Popp and her husband, John Popp, got into an argument. Lauren Popp reportedly grabbed the girl by the arm, injuring her.

The girl reportedly told township police her mother would get angry when she would go to her father’s room. Police said the girl had bruising and scratch marks on her arm. She also had marks on her leg. The girl told police she had gone to her room and when she tried to hide behind the door, her mother allegedly kicked her.

She was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of simple assault, endangering the welfare of children and harassment and released. A preliminary hearing is set for Thursday before District Judge Valarie Costanzo.
