14-year-old girl reported missing
A 14-year-old North Strabane Township girl, who police say may be involved in an Internet relationship, was reported missing from her home Thursday.
Sharon Elizabeth Hernandez is believed to have left her home at 670 S. Lakeside Drive about 2:30 a.m. after taking the keys to her mother’s white 2002 Chevrolet Suburban.
Township police Lt. Dan Levi said the girl’s mother had been sleeping and found her missing about 4:20 a.m. A neighbor reported hearing a noise about 2:30 a.m.
“We are very concerned for her welfare,” Levi said. “And she is only 14 and driving a vehicle.”
The girl has no cellphone or credit cards with her. Police checked with OnStar to see if they could trace the vehicle, but it cannot be tracked because of the age of the Suburban.
Police have listed her as missing through the National Crime Information Center and issued a local bulletin as they continue to investigate where she might have gone.
Levi said, to his knowledge, the girl does not have a history of running away.
Sharon is 5 feet, 3 inches tall, weighs 135 pounds with dark brown hair and brown eyes. She has a burn scar on her left forearm. Police do not have a description of the clothing she was wearing when she left the house. The license on the vehicle is HMP-3489. The girl attends Pennsylvania Charter Cyber School.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call 911.
