WAYNESBURG – The Rocky Doman Memorial Golf Outing will be held Aug. 24 at Rohanna’s Golf Course on Rolling Meadows Road in Franklin Township.
The four-man scramble will begin at 8 a.m. Green fees, cart fees, refreshments and a buffet dinner following the tournament at Rohanna’s Restaurant are included in the registration fee of $300 a team or $75 an individual.
All teams must register and pay the entrance fee by Aug. 2.
Family and friends of Rocky “Rock” Doman, who was killed in a gas-drilling accident in 2007, established the Rocky Doman Memorial Golf Outing as a means of raising money for a scholarship in his memory.
Money raised through the outing goes to endow the scholarship fund at Greene County Community Foundation.
The Rocky Doman Memorial Scholarship is open to any graduating senior at one of the five Greene County high schools who is planning to pursue a degree at an accredited two-year or four-year institution and is a standout athlete.
Recipients also must exemplify the spirit of humility and that of a team player.
Doman, son of Robert and Patti Doman of Carmichaels, was a 2000 graduate of Carmichaels Area High School.
A three-year letterman in football from 1997 to 1999, Doman is one of only four Greene County players to be honored by the WPIAL for rushing for more than 4,000 yards. Doman amassed 4,145 yards and 56 touchdowns for the Carmichaels Mikes.
Doman went on to play two seasons at Waynesburg College before concussions put an end to his football career.
