Carmichaels man sentenced on DUI

WAYNESBURG – A Carmichaels man who earlier pleaded guilty to his second offense of driving under the influence of alcohol was sentenced Wednesday by Judge Farley Toothman to five years in the county intermediate punishment program.

William Leslie Britt Jr., 31, of 211 Inwood Ave., was arrested Dec. 23 after being stopped for speeding on Route 21 in Cumberland Township. His blood-alcohol content was 0.223 percent.

Britt pleaded guilty May 22 to DUI and two summary traffic violations.

According to the judge’s order, Britt will serve 30 days in jail and will be eligible for weekend confinement. He also will serve three months in house arrest and be eligible for work release. He will be on probation the remaining 56 months. Britt also must pay $1,550 in fines, serve 125 hours of community service and submit to drug and alcohol testing.
